Week One

Hello Troupes,

Week one was a success! We learned a whole bunch of stuff. Main points through are:

E: Eye Contact
M: Measure
T: Targeting

and

C: Cue
R: Reaction
A: Action
P: Period

We also learned how to use our hands, feet, heads, and other various parts as weapons and how to use them for defense as well. We will review all this information on Tuesday before jumping into R&D. If you missed this week, please prepare to stay a little later on Tuesday to find time to make this up.

We begin Rapier and Dagger on Tuesday, so bring your gloves (not your mitts ((ha, ha :))) and prepare for fun with swords!

See you then, and as always, blog here for questions, comments, and fun thoughts!

Two weeks to go

Hello Everyone!

We have two weeks until the Summer Stage Combat Class begins. Please enjoy your time off, spend it with family and friends, by the pool, and with a good book. Then we get to work.

There are some items that you should bring with you to every class:
  • Water (preferably in a bottle)
  • Gloves (baseball, golf, gauntlets!)
  • Folder or Binder
  • Writing utensil

I will provide the weapons and the knowledge. Okay, maybe just the weapons. Mel has the knowledge.

Please dress apporpriately for every class. Wear clothes you can move in and get sweaty. Also, please wear shoes that allow to move well. Gym shoes or something like it. No open toed shows allowed.

If you still owe me forms or money, please bring that we well on the first day of class.

If you have any questions between now and then, please don't hesitate to ask via this blog or e-mail.

I am looking forward to killing, er, teaching you!

Chad

Join Today!

Hello Everyone,

Please remember that Monday, April 21st, is when your deposit and your paperwork is due for the summer stage combat workshop. You can turn in both to me either in the morning or after school.

If you have any friends interested, please send them to me and we get them fighting if they are sane. But, crazy works too, so what the heck!

I hope you enjoyed your weekend and I look forward to an awesome summer of fighting and "killing" each other repeatedly!

Until then,

Chad Weddle

Welcome to The Order of the Pen and the Sword

You have been invited to join a brand new order that focuses on Acting and Stage Combat. Our goal is to get you trained in the art of stage combat and apply your knowledge of acting to this new and exciting craft.

You have all received information about the class and if you have any questions, please post them to this blog.

In short, you will receive stage combat training from an certified SAFD Advanced Actor Combatant, ME. You will gain unarmed and Rapier and Dagger training for future shows at AHS, college, and any where else you audition.

The dates are going to be the same, but the times are most likely going to change to either 5:30-8:30 or 6:00-8:00 or 9:00 depending on how things work out.

If the price is getting in the way of your training, DON'T LET IT! Please come talk to me about how to work this out and I will help you.

That is all for now. Feel free to use this blog for questions, answers, interesting news, inqueries, and any other items you feel are appropriate. And keep it appropriate.
